Locations
The program will take place in Bavaria, the southernmost state in Germany. We will spend two weeks in Nuremberg, the cultural and industrial center of Northern Bavaria, a long week-end in Berlin, and three weeks in Brannenburg, a scenic small town in the Alps, about one hour away from Munich and Salzburg.
All three locations offer a wealth of sites of cultural and historical significance. They range from galleries and art museums all the way to documentation centers about the Third Reich and the Concentration Camp in Dachau. Art collections cover everything from ancient to medieval and modern art. Many of the history classes will take place right where the events we talk about happened!
Brannenburg and Nuremberg are located at major train junctions which will enable students to explore the immediate vicinity, Germany, or the rest of Europe easily.

Advice from students who went last year: We asked the students on the 2011 program to tell us what advice they would have for future participants. Here's what they said:
On packing:
Weigh your bags before you leave
Pack light and pack early
Don't pack the day before and don't buy bulky clothes, especially if you plan to travel afterwards
On courses:
Stay up-to-date on the course readings
Do as much work as you can before you leave and order your books as soon as you get the list
On the program:
Plan your time carefully, learn how to read a map
It's not just a vacation
There's no air conditioning
