Intersession in London Program Flyer

INTERSESSION in LONDON 2008 offers a hands-on travel program of international study through two General Education courses with opportunities for independent work by special arrangement.

The courses for the program will explore the history, culture and environments formed by modernity, colonialism and globalization.  The aim of the program is to take learning out of the classroom and into the street by providing study of these topics on location, in the places where they happened. London is the ideal location to study these cultural and intellectual forces as it is the city where much of this world altering history took place. Everyday will be spent engaged with various aspects of London’s architecture, its history, and its people with virtually the entire program conducted in the field.

The trip includes 18 nights in a three star hotel near Hyde Park in a terrific section of the city.  Also included are trips to the National Theatre, the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Modern, Kew Gardens, the Victoria & Albert Museum, St. Paul’s, the Tower of London and the John Soane House Museum.

Among the many excursions will be visits to the historic Portobello and Camden Markets, a day to the lovely historic town of Oxford and visits to the Observatory, the Naval Museum and the Queen’s House in nearby Greenwich.
