† SPAN 2101 Intermediate Spanish (3) Prereq.: Spanish 1102 or equivalent. Continuation of elementary Spanish. Additional emphasis on reading and writing.
† SPAN 2102 Intermediate Spanish (3) Prereq.: Spanish 2101 or equivalent. Continuation of Spanish 2101.
† SPAN 2155 Spanish Textual Commentary (3) Prereq.: Spanish 2102 or equivalent. Oral and written commentary on a variety of genres and nonprint media in Spanish.
SPAN 2156 Advanced Oral Communication (3) Prereq.: Spanish 2155 or equivalent and consent of instructor.
SPAN 3010 Advanced Grammar and Composition (3) Prereq.: Spanish 2102 or equivalent
SPAN 3070 Spanish for Professionals (3) Prereq.: Spanish 2155 or equivalent.
SPAN 3074 Advanced Readings on Hispanic-American Civilization (3) Prereq.: SPAN 3010. Parallels SPAN 3073, but focuses on the Hispanic-American countries.
SPAN 3980 Special Topics in Spanish (3) Prereq.: SPAN 3043 or 3044 or 3071 or 3072. May be taken for a maximum of 6 hrs. of credit when topics vary.
SPAN 4146 Latin American literature (1915-1960). Prereq.: one literature course in Spanish at the 3000 level or consent of instructor.

* Classes will be taught at FORO ARGENTINO, a private institute located in downtown Buenos Aires
* As a participant, you will earn six to nine hours of LSU credit, pursuing courses in Spanish language (lower and intermediate levels), Spanish for business, literature, art, history/culture and civilization.
* Selected local families will provide lodging and meals
* Anticipated excursions, trips, activities, include: City Tour, “Immigration Tour,” Puerto Madero, San Telmo, Palermo, Tigre, Museum of Fine Arts, Latin American Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires (MALBA), Colón Opera House, “Estancias,” movies, plays and concerts,and trips to:
1. by plane: Iguazú (Iguazú Falls) and
2. by bus: Mendoza (The Andes region)
Program Fee
Estimated at $3,300. LSU tuition and air fare are not included in this fee. The program fee includes lodging (Argentine family house), two meals per day, and all excursions/trips, all ground transportation and admission prices for all mandatory excursions/trips.
Estimated tuition and university fees for six credit hours: Residents: $1017, non-residents: $3092. Estimated Air fare: between $1,000 and $1300, depending on the development of oil prices. Students may use any carrier and frequent flyer miles if that is available to them. They have to be in Buenos Aires on May 29, 2008.
