American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowship - for students who have completed their undergraduate degrees and want to conduct research in Scandinavia; must have some ability in the language of the host country; does not apply for research projects conducted at English-speaking universities
Blakemore Foundation - for advanced study of languages & fine arts in Asia
Boren Awards for International Study - U.S. undergraduate and graduate students whose study abroad experience focuses on geographic areas, languages, and/or fields of study that are critical to U.S. national security
Carnegie Junior Fellows Program - for graduating seniors and individuals who have graduated within the past year

Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals - a full-year work-study scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange with Germany. Includes language training; no prior knowledge of German required
Critical Language Scholarship Program - offers intensive summer language institutes overseas in Arabic, Persian, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, Urdu, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian
DAAD: The German Exchange Service - for undergraduate students to study, conduct research, or complete an internship in Germany; must be a sophomore or junior at the time of application
Émigré Memorial German Internship Program–provides U.S. and Canadian students with internships at a German state parliament (Landtag); ideal for students planning on pursuing careers at a regional level of government in the U.S. or Canada, or who have an interest in a specific policy issue
Freeman Asia - funding for undergraduates who receive need-based financial aid and have been accepted into a study abroad program in East or Southeast Asia
Fulbright Scholarship- fellowships for graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals, and artists to study, conduct research, or teach their native language. Contact Dr. Harald Leder
Gates Cambridge Scholarship - students must be accepted to Cambridge University in order to be eligible for scholarship
George J Mitchell Scholarship - sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance; for indivuals between the ages of 18 and 30 to pursue postgraduate study in Ireland or Northern Ireland
Gilman Scholarship - to be eligible, students must receive federal Pell Grant and be accepted into a study abroad program that spends at least 4 weeks in one location; preference given to students who study in locations outside of Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand
Harry S Truman Scholarship Foundation - For juniors who are U.S. citizens adn are committed to careers in government or public service
Humboldt Foundation German Chancellor Fellowship - for students who have completed one degree, have substantial work experience, and have shown leadership potential in their career; used to conduct a proposed research project at a German host institution
ISEP Scholarships students must participate in an ISEP program to be eligible
- Includes the Annette Kade Scholarship for students going on an ISEP exchange to Austria, France, Germany, or Switzerland
- Massey Scholarship for students doing an ISEP-Direct program to Massey University
- STA Travel Scholarship drawing - for students going on an ISEP exchange who purchase their airfare through STA Travel
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award - for current students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic/creative promise and significant financial need; can be used to pursue up to three years' of study in the U.S. or abroad
Japanese Bridging Program - for U.S. undergraduates participating in programs to Japan
Lemmerman Foundation - for graduate students to conduct research in Rome in the areas of Classical Studies or the Humanities
National Italian American Foundation - for students participating in a program for an academic year
- Awards for students who are Italian Americans
- Awards for students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian
Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society - for students whose university has a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi (LSU does!) and who have a 3.75 or higher cumulative gpa; study abroad program must begin between May 1 and June 30, and you must have at least two semesters of school left at the end of your study abroad program
Rhodes Scholarship - every year, 32 students from the U.S. are selected to pursue two years of study at Oxford University
RTKL Traveling Fellowship- for Architecture majors
Samuel Huntington Public Service Award - for graduating college seniors to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world
Thomas R Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship - open to students in their junior year of college who are interested in entering the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service
Transatlantic Renewable Energy Fellowship - for students and young professionals with experience in environmental and energy fields to work in Germany.
Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program - award covering travel, living expenses, and tuition for graduating seniors and graduate students in Biomedical Engineering undertaking research projects outside the U.S. |
