Prospective Students
Eligibility
To be eligible for exchange, you must:
- Have taken at least 30 credit hours before the exchange begins,
- Have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA,
- Be in good financial and academic standing with LSU, and
- Be an undergraduate student.
Application Process
1. NSE has a placement conference once a year, in early March, for exchanges for the upcoming fall/spring/academic year. Students who apply before the March placement conference can apply for all of the schools in the National Student Exchange. After this conference, each school submits its own deadlines for "post-conference placements." However, if a school meets its exchange student capacity at the conference, it will close to exchanges for the upcoming academic year.
2. Choose some schools. You can do this in several ways. You may already have an idea of where you want to go. Or, visit the National Student Exchange website's Member Campuses page to see the schools available. You may be unsure if you can exchange with your major; if so, visit the Majors page, where you can either choose your major and see what schools offer it or choose a school and see if your major is offered. If you are curious about what courses a school offers, visit NSE's Campus Catalogs page.
3. Schedule a meeting with the NSE coordinator (nse@lsu.edu) or stop by 103 Hatcher Hall for an NSE interest meeting (for times, see the calendar) to discuss your options.
4. Either pick up an application packet from the NSE coordinator, or download and fill out the application packet:
4. Turn in the application to the NSE coordinator. A nonrefundable $238 application fee will be posted to your fee bill.
