Click to enlargeStep One - Sign up for an Informational Meeting. You can stop by our office, call or email to schedule an appointment. Check our calendar for the dates of interest meetings. At the meeting you will get all of your questions answered. You will also receive the NSE directory and an application packet.

Step Two - Read through the NSE Directory, paying particular attention to the beginning pages that describe the NSE application, placement, exchange policies and procedures.

Step Three - Select at least 3-5 campuses that interest you. Research exchange options by reviewing campus catalogs, public relations materials the campus web site. Check to see if the schools of interest have courses that you would want to (and could) take, if you haven't done so already. You can also check to see if you would want to live on-campus or off-campus. Think about where the city is located, the size of the city, cultural attitudes and attractions, the weather, transportation, etc.

Step Four - Consult your NSE coordinator, and departmental advisor to identify appropriate exchange options. Click to enlarge

Step Five - Discuss NSE participation with family, friends, and former exchange participants. Let everyone know what you are planning and get their input and opinion.

Step Six- Complete the campus NSE application packet and submit it to the LSU NSE Coordinator, in 104 Hatcher Hall.
(Once you turn in your application, the application fee of $238 is debited on your Bursar's account so you do not need to submit a check with your application.) The sooner you complete the application packet and turn it in, the better.

APPLICATIONS ARE ACCEPTED ON A FIRST COME-FIRST SERVE BASIS.
Check with the NSE coordinator at nse@lsu.edu to see what schools are still open for exchange.

Step Seven - Students should consult with a Student Aid Counselor (phone: 225-578-3103; email: financialaid@lsu.edu) in the LSU Office of Student aid and Scholarships to ascertain your needs for the exchange semester(s).

By February 15, file FAFSA for federally funded financial aid. List on FAFSA the campus codes for all campuses at which you have the potential to be placed on Plan A. List your home campus as well.

Consult your NSE coordinator, to prioritize campus options for exchange.
