Plan
A: Students
pay the host school's tuition, but at resident rates. In other
words, students pay the host school's IN-STATE tuition. (An
easy way to remember this is "Plan A = Pay Away.")
Plan
B:Students
pay what is normally paid to LSU to attend school. This
means that resident students will pay resident tuition and fees
while international and non-resident students will continue to
pay LSU non-resident tuition and fees
Some
NSE colleges use Plan A, some Plan B, some both; LSU can send and
receive students on both Plan A and Plan B,increasing opportunities
for placement. LSU students pay the same tuition and fees as resident
students at the host school (Plan A) or they pay what LSU charges for
study at LSU (Plan B), depending on the plan selected. The worst case
scenario for most is that you continue to pay your normal tuition here.
Some schools have tuition and fees that are less that LSU's tuition,
so you could possibly make money by going on exchange. Other schools'
tuition and fees are greater than LSU, in which case you could continue
paying what you normally pay here at LSU. Keep in mind the NSE Coordinator
will try to get you to your host school on the best possible plan. Most
NSE schools accept students for either a semester or academic year,
some for only an academic year. Some NSE schools allow summer school
participation or enrollment in special programs, like internships and
study abroad; however, the number of schools that do this is very low.
Full-year enrollment does, in some cases, better your chances for placement
at schools, and it is recommended.

offerings, course limitations, room & board costs, and estimated
costs of tuition & fees.
Students
who make themselves available on Plan B must be willing to sign a Withdrawal
Agreement, which obligates them to pay what is normally paid to LSU for
tuition and fees for the entire agreed upon exchange period. (NOTE: If the student is on Plan B, withdraws from the exchange, and wants
to enroll at LSU for the semester that he/she was going to be on exchange,
then he/she must pay tuition twice).
Students
who choose to stay in dorms and use meal plans pay the host school for those items. Students also cover their own transportation
plus all other living expenses, including food, entertainment, insurance,
books and supplies. In addition, LSU students pay a non-refundable
application fee of $238.
