How to Apply to Go on a National Student Exchange

The following are the basic requirements to go on a National Student Exchange:

  • A GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • 30 credit hours or more at the time of exchange
  • No academic, financial, or disciplinary holds

The NSE coordinator will give you an application. There are three parts to the application: the application itself, the Program of Study Statement form, and the Faculty/Staff Reference form. Turn these, along with an official transcript, back in to the NSE coordinator. The application can be turned in at any time, but once you are entered into www.nse.org's online placement system, a non-refundable $238 application fee will be charged to your fee bill.

NSE has a placement conference every March. The program coordinators from all of the NSE schools meet and try to get their students placed at each others' schools. Although you can apply to go on an NSE exchange throughout the year, applying before the conference ensures the widest range of schools possible, since about 25% of the schools will not take students who were not placed at the conference.
